Greetings, SAO readers! Each Thursday, I am going to bring you three of my favorite bets for the day in a quick, easy to read article that we’ll call “Three For Thursday.”

We are going to shift this article to have more of a prop-based focus going forward. We have a fun day of games on tap, so let’s see what MLB player props we can try to make some money on today!

Free MLB Player Props Picks For Thursday

Justin Verlander Under 6.5 Strikeouts

This is a bit of a nerve-wracking bet given that the Royals are not a good offense. However, they do have the fifth lowest team strikeout rate in baseball this year. In addition, we haven’t really seen Verlander pile up the strikeouts this season. In fact, he has topped this number just twice in his last 11 starts. When you factor in the matchup and Verlander’s (somewhat) declining skills, I like the under here.

Astros To Score In 1st inning – YES

Kris Bubic has been somewhat decent of late for the Royals, but his overall metrics are still woeful with an xERA of 5.94, a 13% walk rate, and a below average strikeout rate. The Astros disappointed as huge favorites last night, but I do not expect that to happen again. Look for their offense to come out hot, and I like the top of the order to do some damage early against Bubic.

Christian Walker To Hit A Home Run

This is my favorite home-run bet of the day. Austin Gomber is a wild, inconsistent lefty that really doesn’t know where the ball is going. Christian Walker is a boom or bust power bat, and the ball travels a long way when he connects. All it takes is one fastball with a missed location, and it could be sailing into the Arizona sunset. Give me Walker to hit a bomb tonight, especially since his odds are more favorable than teammate Jordan Luplow.
